2019 CSDA Convention Speakers

Keynote Speaker – Captain (Ret) Kent “Eagle” Ewing, U.S. Navy

Navy Sea Stories and Thoughts on Leadership

Captain Ewing was Commanding Officer of the USS America (CV-66) during Desert Storm. In his Naval career, he also commanded the USS Sylvania (AFS-2), Carrier Air Wing Seventeen and Attack Squadron Sixty Six. He has flown 18,500 hours in over 100 different military and commercial aircraft and made over 1,150 carrier landings. Kent holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Economics from the University of California at Los Angeles and a Master of Science in Systems Management from the University of Southern California. A Dayton, Ohio native, Kent also is a 1974 graduate of the U.S. Navy Test Pilot School, Patuxent River, Class 65. In 1986 he was selected as a Senior Executive Fellow to the Harvard JFK School of Government. He was recently selected as a Fellow of the Society of Experimental Test Pilots, having been a member since 1976. He is a life member of the Association of Naval Aviation and the Navy Tailhook Association.

Major General (Ret) Garry Dean, U.S. Air Force

General Dean logged more than 4,000 hours flying F-15s and other fighters. In his last assignment, he was the principal staff officer and advisor to the Chief, National Guard Bureau, responsible for the performance of the 1,100 member National Guard Bureau staff. Previously, General Dean served as Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations, Allied Joint Forces Command in Naples, Italy. Prior to the NATO assignment, he served as Commander, 1st Air Force, Continental NORAD Region, and AF Forces Northern, responsible for planning and executing the Air Defense of the Continental United States, the Missile Defense of the National Capital Region, and the USAF response to natural disasters in the homeland.

He then served as President of Bowen, Miclette & Britt of Sarasota, Florida from 2010-2015, as well as Vice President and Sales Manager of Bowen, Miclette & Britt of Florida from 2011-2015.

Marc R. Jacobs

Drugs and Drug Testing in the Workplace

Marc Jacobs is senior counsel in the Labor and Employment Law Practice Group at Seyfarth Shaw LLP in Chicago, Illinois. Marc counsels employers throughout the U.S. on a myriad of labor and employment law issues. He works proactively with clients to insulate them from claims and lawsuits. Marc also has an active employment litigation practice, in which he represents public and private sector employers before courts, government agencies (including the National Labor Relations Board, Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, Department of Labor and similar state agencies), arbitrators and mediators in all areas of labor and employment law. Marc attended Reed College, graduated from the University of Wisconsin, and received his J.D. cum laude from Boston University School of Law where he was an Edward Hennessey Distinguished Scholar and recipient of the Bernard E. Farr Prize and Award. He is a frequent speaker for a variety of organizations including the American Bar Association and National Academy of Arbitrators.

Tobin Robeck

Prior to joining Construction Casualty Insurance, Tobin served as Senior Vice President with PJ Callaghan Construction where he managed daily operations including finance, risk management and human resources. Prior, he was a Vice President for Regions Bank. Tobin stays active in the community as past-presidents of both Sunset Rotary Club and Sunset Rotary Foundation, founder of Engage St. Pete, and a planning committee member of Leadership St. Pete. Tobin graduated from Eckerd College with a Bachelor in Business Management and has earned a Commercial Lines Coverage Specialist (CLCS) designation.

George W. Seegebrecht, P.E., FACI

George Seegebrecht is the founder of Concrete Consulting Engineers in Westchester, Illinois. He has over 35 years of experience in the construction industry and for the past 30 years, his primary work has been troubleshooting concrete construction problems concerning design, materials and workmanship issues. He has worked on projects for the U.S State Department, Kiewit Construction, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, several nuclear facilities and the L.A. County Sanitary District. He received his Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering from Valparaiso University and is a licensed professional engineer in 14 states. He is a proponent of CSDA contractors in the construction industry and volunteers at the CSDA booth at World of Concrete.

In 1995, he started one of the first web agencies, which went on to create over 800 online presences for Fortune 100 companies, small businesses and trade associations; the company was acquired in 2006. In 2007, Jon started one of the first marketing automation companies that currently has over 12,000 SMB clients. In 2016, he started a company to automate the Inbound Sales Funnel which brings in and closes more sales for ecommerce clients, and more leads for B2B clients. Jon writes, mentors, and speaks on the subject of how businesses and organizations use the web and technology to grow and overcome challenges.
